Meet the Team
Caitlin Walsh
Occupational Therapist
Hunter Valley, NSW
Where are you from?
I grew up moving throughout several towns in rural NSW such as Bega, Muswellbrook, Tamworth and Condobolin. I moved to Maitland after I finished highschool and have lived there ever since.
Where did you study?
I studied at Charles Sturt University, Port Macquarie and have a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
What made you become an OT?
I always knew I wanted to work closely with people and have a positive impact on their lives. My Aunty mentioned OT one day while I was in Year 12 and arranged for me to meet with the Paediatric OT at the Muswellbrook hospital. I thought it sounded like an incredible career and that gave me the first inkling that I wanted to work and support kids.
Why do you enjoy working with kids?
I think kids are incredible little humans who can often be so misunderstood. They bring so much joy and light into our world and it is a true privilege to be able to work alongside kids and their families.
I have so much fun working with kids and learning about their individual and unique little personalities. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a kid excited to see you and go into an OT session.
It is amazing to be able to develop meaningful connections and trust with children and their families and I am forever grateful to work with these awesome little humans.
What made you want to work at Eucalypt OT?
I am incredibly lucky to have worked with Holly as a Therapy Assistant a few years ago and she embodied everything I wanted to be as an OT. She supported me throughout my last few years as a Uni student and since then has supported me as an OT. I would not be the OT I am today without her unwavering support, so when the opportunity arose to work at Eucalypt OT, I knew there was nowhere else I would rather work.
Holly has created a service that strives for accessibility and integrity which is everything I value as an OT.
What are your clinical interest areas?
I am very passionate about sensory processing and how this impacts all aspects of a person including regulation and development of motor skills. I love learning about individual sensory “profiles” and how different sensory stimuli impact the nervous system depending on the individual.
I am also keen to explore more about interoception concepts and supporting developmental milestones in the future.
What’s your favourite OT resource?
Body sock, theraputty and scooter boards.
What’s your favourite food?
Mexican or I am a huge sweet tooth and love every chocolate or lolly.
What's a fun fact people might not know?
I love all living creatures (big, small, insects) and will always help a stray if I can. Yes, I am that person who picks up stray dogs and cats.
