Where are you from?
I am from Bunbury, Western Australia. I lived there until I was 20 and then moved to Perth for University - I am still still loving and living in Perth.
Where did you study?
I studied at Curtin University (Bentley Campus) and have a Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy, with Honours.
What made you become an OT?
Initially, I wanted to study nursing but quickly realised I wasn’t too excited for any sort of wound care or dealing with needles. A friend of mine had just started studying OT and I was obsessed! I loved the idea of getting to work with people and how broad/diverse the role can be. I am also a very social person and love getting to know and learn about people.
Why do you enjoy working with kids?
Because they are so much fun! I love getting to know children and their families and feel so lucky to be able to help them work towards and achieve their goals. It is so rewarding seeing a child light up when they have felt progress and smashed goals! Did I mention I get to play games to do all of this??
What made you want to work for Eucalypt OT?
was fortunate enough to complete a placement in Geraldton during my studies and I loved how rewarding it was to support rural kids, and the diversity that comes with the rural lifestyle - I have been eager to work and provide services within this setting ever since.
I am also VERY grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from someone as knowledgeable and as passionate as Holly!
What are your clinical interest areas?
At the moment I am enjoying getting to learn about all areas, although I have taken an interest in mental health and being able to support children to navigate feelings of anxiety and challenging thoughts.
What’s your favourite OT resource?
Theraputty, kinetic sand, playdough - all of the squishy ones!
What’s your favourite food?
Salt and Vinegar chips!
What's a fun fact people might not know?
I used to be a competitive swimmer and am currently training to complete the Rottnest Channel Swim for a third time!
